[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Province of Ontario identified through much lobbying by the OBA that the trade of Barber is still under review. Prior, Barber was assumed to be included into the Hairstyling\u00a0curriculum\u00a0and said to be\u00a0synonymous. After close examination of our trade over the years it was\u00a0determined\u00a0by the Ontario Barber\u00a0Association\u00a0that not only was Barber removed from all legislation, by-laws and\u00a0apprenticeship\u00a0opportunities\u00a0but the absence of ethnic hair in the\u00a0syllabus\u00a0is a major oversight on the part of MTCU .\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Systematically\u00a0the MTCU erased the Trade of Barber suggesting hairstylist do the same tasks. systemically the MTCU ignored how to\u00a0effectively\u00a0manage different hair types (people of ethnicity) through our current\u00a0curriculum. While this has taken some time to change and\u00a0properly\u00a0implement, the OBA has been proactive. Using our own “inclusive” curriculum\u00a0we have been teaching Barbering, from\u00a0straight\u00a0razor classes to fading, outlining, Hair Tattooing, Tool\u00a0recognition\u00a0and an abundance of other relevant Barber material that continues to be absent in our current sector. All of our\u00a0affiliates (B.A.R.B.E.R partners) have been doing the same over the years. Thousands of participants and barbers have\u00a0benefited\u00a0from our programs over the years. Through our programs that the OBA offers we also provide Certification and membership. We have offered classes,\u00a0memberships\u00a0, and Certification since 2006. Please keep in mind that The OBA has\u00a0existed\u00a0since 1947 and was\u00a0reinstated\u00a0in 2006. Currently the Province of Ontario does not recognize Barbers or how to manage ethnic hair in any\u00a0legislation\u00a0since the\u00a0obliteration\u00a0of Barbers by the MTCU in 1990.
